What is Entropy?
Entropy 2099 (also known as Project Entropy) is a free-to-play sci-fi strategy MMO from FunPlus/Puzala set in 2099, after a meteorite impact on planet Kepler-452B creates the Entropy Zone — a hostile wasteland overrun by the alien Grod species. You play as a Trail Commander, building a base, assembling fleets of mechs and tanks, and fighting for territory against both aliens and rival players.
What separates it from standard 4X strategy games is the vehicle system. You don't just train generic troops — you customize individual tanks, aircraft, and mechs with modular weapon loadouts and crew assignments. Hero commanders slot into specific vehicles, and their skill trees synergize with equipment types. A sniper hero in an artillery mech plays fundamentally differently than a tank hero in the same slot.
You start with a wrecked base on the edge of the Entropy Zone. The campaign walks you through rebuilding, recruiting your first heroes, and clearing Grod nests for resources. Hero progression follows a three-track system: leveling, ranking up with hero shards, and equipment upgrades — familiar to anyone who's played Rise of Kingdoms or Sea of Conquest.
The first week is guided but moves faster than most SLGs. By day 3-4 you'll hit the open-world map and start interacting with other players. Alliance mechanics unlock early, and joining one is critical — solo play hits a resource wall around base level 12. The $0.99 and $4.99 newcomer packs fast-track base upgrades and give you a head start on hero shards.

Entropy FAQ
Yes — Entropy is free to download and play on PC. All heroes, vehicles, and base upgrades are obtainable through gameplay. Purchases speed up construction timers and hero shard collection but aren't required to clear the PvE campaign or participate in alliance events.
Yes. Minimum specs are light: a dual-core CPU (~2.2 GHz), 4 GB RAM, and any DirectX 10-compatible GPU. After 30+ hours of testing on a budget office machine, the game ran at stable 60 FPS during fleet battles. It's one of the least demanding strategy MMOs on PC right now.
Partially. Cross-server alliance events and leaderboard rankings favor spenders. Fairness rating: 5/10. That said, the PvE campaign, Entropy Zone exploration, and most alliance support roles are fully completable without spending. Smart hero and vehicle combos can punch above their power level in mid-tier PvP.
The base client is around 8 GB. Expect 3-5 GB of updates over the first year as FunPlus adds new planets, heroes, and seasonal events. Keep 12 GB free for comfortable long-term play.
Focus on heroes that synergize with your strongest vehicle type. Tank-class heroes paired with heavy mechs give the most durable early-game lineup for PvE clearing. Save premium summon currency for rate-up banners rather than spending on the standard pool — hero shards from campaign and alliance events are enough to progress through the first month.
