Crossout is a free-to-play vehicular combat MMO developed by Targem Games and published by Gaijin Entertainment. Set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by an alien invasion, you build custom armored vehicles from dozens of interchangeable parts — chassis, wheels, armor plates, weapons, engines, and cosmetics — then drive them into team-based PvP battles. Every vehicle is fully destructible: wheels get shot off, weapons break, armor panels fly away.
The vehicle builder is the heart of the game. You construct your machine in a garage editor that works like a 3D building block system — snap together structural parts, mount weapons (machine guns, cannons, rocket launchers, flamethrowers, melee blades), add engines and modules, then test-drive before entering matchmaking. Weight limits, energy capacity, and structural integrity create real engineering constraints.
Combat plays out in team-based 8v8 matches across varied maps. Modes include standard team deathmatch, capture-and-hold, escort missions, and PvE raids against AI enemies. The matchmaking system uses a Power Score based on your vehicle's stats, keeping fights roughly balanced.
The first few hours are guided by a mission chain that introduces the builder, basic combat, and faction system. Five factions — Engineers, Lunatics, Nomads, Scavengers, and Steppenwolves — each unlock unique parts and blueprints as you level reputation. The crafting system lets you build advanced parts and sell them on a player-driven marketplace.
