What is CRSED: Cuisine Royale?
CRSED: Cuisine Royale (formerly Cuisine Royale, then CRSED: F.O.A.D.) is a free-to-play battle royale MMO shooter developed by Darkflow Software and published by Gaijin Entertainment. Dozens of players drop onto a map, scavenge weapons and equipment, and fight until one remains — standard battle royale rules, but with two twists: mystical champion powers and a self-aware sense of humor.
The champion system is the differentiator. Eleven playable characters — including a Haitian voodoo practitioner, a Korean nature spirit, a Viking berserker, and a German inventor who builds vehicles mid-match — each have unique supernatural abilities on cooldowns. Powers range from summoning zombies to calling lightning strikes to teleporting short distances. The game offers two modes: Cuisine Royale (pure realistic gunplay, no magic) and CRSED (full supernatural chaos).
Weapons are realistically modeled — bolt-action rifles, assault rifles, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, flamethrowers, and mortars all behave with convincing ballistics. Armor, however, ranges from tactical vests to kitchen pots and colanders (a holdover from the game's origins as a joke War Thunder mod). The tonal mix of grounded gunplay and absurd cosmetics gives it a personality that Fortnite-style battle royales don't touch.
Matches are fast — 15-20 minutes per round. The shrinking Dark Zone forces fights toward the center. You can play solo, duo (2 players), or squad (3-4 players). Cross-platform play between PC and consoles keeps the matchmaking pool healthy.
