HELLDIVERS 2 is a co-op third-person shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios, published by PlayStation Publishing and released on 7 February 2024. You join the Helldivers, Super Earth's elite expendable soldiers, dropping onto alien worlds to spread 'Managed Democracy' by any explosive means necessary. It's a satirical, high-intensity war game that leans hard into squad chaos and over-the-top sci-fi action.

At its core is the Stratagem system: by entering short directional-button combos in the heat of battle, you call down orbital strikes, autocannon sentries, support weapons, supply drops and reinforcements for fallen teammates. Friendly fire is always on, so a mistimed 500kg bomb can wipe your own squad as easily as a swarm of Terminids — which is exactly where much of the game's tension and comedy comes from.

Beyond individual missions, every match feeds a community-wide Galactic War. Liberating or losing planets shifts the front line for everyone, and Major Orders set shared goals that the entire player base works toward together. You fight two main factions — the insectoid Terminids and the robotic Automatons — across biomes ranging from acid swamps to frozen tundra, with new enemies, fronts and equipment added over time.

Persistent progression rewards you with Medals, Requisition Slips and Super Credits used to unlock weapons, armor and Stratagems via the rotating Warbond battle-pass system.
