About Monster Hunter: World
Monster Hunter: World is an action RPG built around a simple but endlessly deep idea: hunt enormous monsters, then use their parts to craft gear that lets you hunt even bigger ones. Set in the New World, you join the Research Commission to study the Elder Dragons crossing the sea, taking on quests across five distinct, living biomes where creatures hunt, sleep, and fight each other independently of you.
Combat is deliberate and weighty. You pick from 14 weapon types — Great Sword, Long Sword, Bow, Light and Heavy Bowgun, Insect Glaive, Charge Blade and more — each with its own move set, combos, and rhythm. Success comes from reading a monster's animations, exploiting elemental and status weaknesses, managing stamina and sharpness, and using the environment, traps, and consumables you prepare before each hunt.
Progression is the hook. There's no traditional XP curve — you grow stronger by hunting specific monsters for the materials to forge weapons and armor sets, each with skills that reshape how you play. The endgame ramps into tougher Tempered monsters and the formidable Elder Dragons, giving hundreds of hours of meaningful gear chasing for players who get pulled in.
On PC the base game ships with everything from launch plus post-release event content and title updates, running at uncapped frame rates and higher resolutions than the console versions. It's a strong-value entry point to the series, and buying a key through Go Get Games lets you compare marketplace offers to land it for less.
