About Elden Ring
Elden Ring is an open-world action RPG from FromSoftware, the studio behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne, published by Bandai Namco and released on 23 February 2022. You play as a Tarnished, summoned back to the Lands Between to seek the shards of the shattered Elden Ring and become Elden Lord. It blends the studio's signature challenging combat with a massive, seamless world you explore on foot and on horseback.
The world is the star here. Six major regions stretch from the open fields of Limgrave to the snowy Mountaintops of the Giants, each packed with optional dungeons, hidden bosses, crafting materials, and cryptic NPC questlines. Worldbuilding was developed with author George R. R. Martin, giving the demigod factions and the history of the Shattering real depth for players who dig into the item descriptions and lore.
Mechanically, Elden Ring is deep and flexible. You can build a strength tank, a dexterity bleed assassin, an intelligence sorcerer, a faith incantation user, or any hybrid in between, and respec via Larval Tears once you reach Rennala. Spirit Ash summons let you call allies into tough fights, Ashes of War customize weapon skills, and the stamina-based dodge-and-strike combat rewards patience and pattern recognition over button-mashing.
It's worth buying because there's simply a lot of game here for the money. A focused run still takes dozens of hours, and full exploration plus the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC can push well past a hundred. If you want a high-difficulty RPG with enormous freedom and some of the best boss design in the genre, a cheap Steam key on Go Get Games is the most affordable way in.
